Feeding Therapy is for children with food worries. Some children may only eat certain textures or colours of foods due to their sensory preferences or chewing skills. Trying new foods, and then eating them regularly, can turn into a stressful time at each mealtime.
I do all sessions via Zoom Telehealth as I find this offers a more typical view of what is happening at mealtimes and provides more flexibility for parents and less stress for children. If I need more observations, I request short videos to be sent to me via WhatsApp.
Some babies can find it challenging to move on from smooth pureed textures and they haven't yet learnt the tongue skills to try other textures. At times some babies don't cope with what is being offered and feel scared by such frequent gagging episodes.
I utilise a wide range of evidence-based knowledge, many years of experience, combined with empathetic listening to find therapy suggestions that are the right fit for your unique child and family. I have gone on to do extra training in feeding therapy over many years, including Responsive Feeding Therapy, and some elements of the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach for children.
I provide individual therapy and also small group therapy programs (the Food Explorers Club with max 3 children). Scroll on to see details of the Food Explorers Club.
I also facilitate a monthly parent support group.
I aim to bring a personal, heartfelt, and caring approach to involvement with your family.

Children aged 5 years through to 15 years meet over Zoom in a group with maximum 3 children. Each group meets once per month on a Wednesday at 5pm. With Jillian they explore food and chat about things that bother them about having food worries and help each other with troubleshooting to manage these challenges.
This model of feeding therapy provides safety, security and carryover of skills and confidence to the home setting.
An additional bonus that has been observed in these groups is the forming of a natural friendship over shared experiences.
Jillian facilitates these Food Explorers Clubs with predictable structure and expectations to create safety and trust. This therapy is child led and aims to nurture the children's curiosity and creativity. This builds confidence and self-advocacy around food worries.
